Crushing UFC 300 defeat
LightweightUFC
April 13, 2024
Turner lost to Renato Moicano via TKO (punches) at 4:11 of Round 2 at UFC 300 on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
What a disaster. Entering as a -250 favorite, Turner, who spent a good chunk of Round 1 on his back, appeared to have this fight won after dropping Moicano in the closing seconds of the frame. Yet, he didn't follow up on his opportunity, perhaps thinking the fight should have been stopped, and it ended up costing him in a major way. Turner did some more good work early in the fight in Round 2 before once again being taken down. This time, he wasn't lucky enough to survive the round. Turner has now lost three of his past four fights, although two have come via split decision. He'll find himself in a must-win situation his next time out.

Set to face Renato Moicano
LightweightUFC
March 10, 2024
Turner is set to face Renato Moicano in a three-round lightweight bout at UFC 300 on April 13.
ANALYSIS
Turner will look to start a winning streak, as he defeated Bobby Green in his last event, but he was coming off back-to-back losses to Dan Hooker and Mateusz Gamrot before that. Turner has struggled to make weight in his previous two fights, and he hopes that won't be an issue ahead of meeting Moicano in this huge event.
Statement win over Bobby Green
LightweightUFC
December 2, 2023
Turner defeated Bobby Green via KO (punches) at 2:49 of Round 1 at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Austin, Texas.
ANALYSIS
This is a notable win for Turner on multiple fronts. He accepted this fight on short notice and was openly worried about making weight. It took two tries Friday morning, but he got there. Jalin had a massive size and power edge over Green and was eventually able to connect with a shot to the side of his opponent's head which stumbled him. Bobby eventually was flattened out on the mat with Turner firing off countless, unanswered shots. The former was clearly finished, but referee Kerry Hatley refused to stop the fight, so Jalin kept wailing away until Hatley changed his tune. Hopefully the dangerous and woeful actions of the ref do not take away from a terrific performance from Turner -- one that would go on to earn him a $50,000 Performance of the Night bonus. Jalin snaps a two-fight losing streak (split decisions to Dan Hooker and Mateusz Gamrot) with the victory.
Makes weight on second attempt
LightweightUFC
December 1, 2023
Turner needed two attempts to make the lightweight limit of 156 pounds in advance of Saturday's UFC Austin matchup against Bobby Green.
ANALYSIS
Turner didn't look the greatest on the scales, which can be expected when you take a lightweight fight on just a few weeks' notice. He weighed in at 157 pounds on his first attempt, but returned five minutes later and hit his mark, which, per Nolan King of USA Today, often implies a calibration issue or human error was in play. Turner is currently roughly a (-200) betting favorite in advance of Saturday's co-main event.
Takes fight on short notice
LightweightUFC
November 23, 2023
Turner is scheduled to fight Bobby Green in a lightweight bout at UFC Austin on Dec. 2, per Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl.
ANALYSIS
Turner will fight Green on less than two weeks' notice. The latter was supposed to fight Dan Hooker, but he withdraw from fighting Green because of an arm injury. Having lost via split decision to Hooker in his previous fight, Turner will try to redeem himself against Green.
Drops decision after weight miss
LightweightUFC
July 8, 2023
Turner lost to Dan Hooker via split decision (28-29, 29-28, 28-29) at UFC 290 on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
It's a crushing night for Turner on multiple fronts. It's his second straight split decision defeat inside the Octagon, and he also had to forfeit 20 percent of his purse to Hooker after missing weight by two pounds on Friday morning. It's certainly fair to wonder whether or not the poor weight cut had an impact on Turner's performance. He was cruising through the first half of this fight before it all fell apart. His gas tank seemed to evaporate in an instant, allowing Hooker to steal all the momentum throughout the final stages of Round 2 and all of Round 3. Turner was essentially on auto pilot the final six-plus minutes, so he did well to see the final bell. That said, Turner needs to figure things out in his next fight. A three-fight losing streak can be a death sentence in any division these days.
